Best Cat Litter UK

January 28, 2017

So you're cat litter shopping! With so many to choose from, how do you know which cat litter to choose? Would you go for a clumping litter or non-clumping?  Crystals, wood based, sand or clay?

Firstly, decide whether you are after clumping litter or non clumping litter.

Clumping litter clumps together to form a small ball every time liquid touches the litter. So when your cat uses the litter, the urine will not spread and mix with the litter.  This helps keep the litter cleaner and fresher for longer, however do keep in mind the following three points:

1. You need to remove the clumped litter every time your cat uses the litter tray.

2. Replace clumped litter with new litter

3. Make sure you fill the tray with enough litter, otherwise the clumping bits get stuck to the bottom of the litter tray

I personally prefer non clumping litter as I do feel that clumping litter requires a lot more time and attention.  When you buy good quality, highly absorbent non clumping litters, you'll find that any bad odours are easily controlled and the litter can be easily mixed after each use.

Being a cat sitter, I get to visit many cats on a daily basis and have therefore used both type of litters and know what works and what doesn't.  I found the Catsan non clumping litter to be one of the best cat litters that I've ever tried, my cats love it too. If you prefer clumping litter, many people and some of my customers love using the World's Best Cat Litter.
